Three Game Pass Games We Are Enjoying Over the Weekend (Oct. 10-12)

Following the company's latest announcement of Xbox Game Pass membership updates, featuring a cost hike for the top tier to $30 per month, numerous subscribers are looking for new methods to get the most from their membership. For those holding onto their membership or considering signing up, we present this week's recommendations.

This weekend's titles include a beloved Japanese role-playing game, a charming independent journey, and a superb puzzler scheduled to depart from the service shortly.

Persona 4: The Golden Edition

Persona 4 Golden

One of the top ways to get your money's worth from Game Pass is by immersing yourself in a lengthy, captivating role-playing game — and Persona 4 Golden fits that bill perfectly. You take on the role of a teenager who has just moved to the quiet countryside of Inaba. By day, your goals include making friendships, working part-time jobs, and keeping up with studies. At night, you work to solve a chilling serial murder case by venturing into strange locations based on your friends' deepest insecurities.

With a memorable group of heroes, tactical battle system, flawless visuals, and a storyline full of surprises, Persona 4: The Golden Edition is regarded as a masterpiece for many reasons. It also boasts a highly addictive cycle that will keep you up late into the night, repeatedly.

Sopa - Tale of the Stolen Potato

Sopa: Tale of the Stolen Potato

Although big titles like Ninja Gaiden IV are a key attraction for Game Pass, the platform also showcases lesser-known games. A great instance of this is Sopa - Tale of the Stolen Potato. Inspired by the animated classic, this charming independent adventure is a magical realist tale rooted in Latin American traditions. Players join Miho, who, after assisting his grandmother prepare soup, is transported to a vibrant realm populated by potato-stealing frogs and various quirky creatures.

Sopa unfolds like an learning-focused computer title from the 90s, as Miho solves puzzles and aids the world's inhabitants by collecting an assortment of items. Even if it's a little unpolished, Sopa is a sweet little game that openly showcases its love for the region's culture.

Cocoon: A Puzzle Adventure

Cocoon gameplay

Cocoon: A Puzzle Adventure is set to leave Game Pass on October 15, giving you only a few days to play it via subscription — and you definitely should. Developer Geometric Interactive crafted one of the finest puzzle games of recent years in 2023's Cocoon. Its core gameplay element focuses on moving between realms inside other worlds, and often you'll transport those realms, in the form of vibrant orbs, alongside you.

While it doesn't have explicit instructions, everything about Cocoon: A Puzzle Adventure's puzzles is designed in a highly natural manner, though they can challenge you as well. The year 2023 proved a big year for games, so it's understandable if Cocoon: A Puzzle Adventure was somewhat missed by many players. We should correct that while we can.
